Techno-Geekiness (and Politics)
Well, I thought I should start putting things in my blog that I think about. Here is a political issue that will affect the internet: Net Neutrality. Currently, the internet is neutral, and there is pending legislation to keep it this way. If the opponents of net neutrality get their way web sites will have to pay more money to their service providers based on what kind of content they provide, and this will hurt the little guys and the only beneficiaries will be the service providers Comcast, Verizon and AT&T.

Google plans to launch an innovative, online video ad campaign that will undoubtedly require more bandwidth for optimal viewing. Net neutrality regulations would actually hurt this type of innovation and Google just wants the internet service providers to subsidize these ad innovations. These ads are sure to make money for Google so don’t you think it’s only fair for Google to pay their fair share to the ISPs when Google is the one soaking up their bandwidth. Net neutrality regulations aren’t good for business and they certainly aren’t good for the consumer. Google is savvy but don’t succumb to their scare tactics. I invite you to peruse our website at the Hands Off The Internet Coaltion at http://handsoff.org for more information.

http://handsoff.org was a website developed by a PR group whose clients include telecommunications companies. Please read their website, but understand their motivation is that telecommunication/ISP's have VERY MUCH to gain if the net neutrality is defeated.
